The one drawback I see is you have to select solar or battery. If you select solar and a cloud passes by the fountain stops. This piece includes an internal pump with flow rate control. It plugs in with ease and requires a 120V power source.

Love this fountain! Could use better instructions so I’m adding a few tips about installation 1. Only one cord comes out of the bottom (drawing showed 2) 2. Warm plastic tube w a hair dryer to soften it for insertion 3. There is a (mostly) round plastic cap that should be placed over the reservoir tube (once you’ve snaked the power cord thru) to protect the plug from water. 4. Would recommend putting fountain together indoors. It’s tricky. Also, it weighs 40 pounds without water, so don’t add water til you get it outside and are ready to go. 5. I used clear postal tape to strap the top to the reservoir to keep it secure while moving it out of the house. 6. The cord is about 6’ long but runs the length of the base, leaving 3-4’. Plan accordingly. I placed my unit in front of a window so I could snake the cord under the window and plug it in inside (used an extension cord). 7. I added 2 copper disks to reduce algae build-up.. My fountain was easily assembled however the problem I discovered was that in order to use the light, I needed two outlets and I already was using one for my patio lights. The sound was very important to me because I’ve had fountains before that made a hollow sound and not very relaxing, this one is soothing as it cascades over the rippled edges and doesn’t splash outside the fountain.. This solar fountain pump is really cool. I have bought 2 pumps before but they only worked when the sun shined directly at them. They wouldn't stay in the birthbath, either. I had to put rocks around them. However this one stayed in the birthbath, I still put a rock in to secure the wire. It even works on cloudy days, even though, thanks to the battery.
