I thought the black shades had yellow metal inside, but they are fully black. This actually turned to advantage as they reflect any color light bulb you put inside. I did not realize that this lamp only fits candelbera bulbs and can not work as an upside down lamp shade. I managed to make it work by clipping the prongs so that they hold the bulb.
