There is some weight overall to the lamp and it looks more expensive than it actually is. The gold color is quite nice and not cheap looking. I would not use it in my master bedroom as I prefer lamps the cast light in all directions, including upwards. But for ambient secondary lighting, this is perfect! I love it! The lamps are well made, with good weight and easy to put together. There was no damage to the shades. The picture shows the lamps with an aged/antique and matte surface - exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the 2 I received were quite “brassy” and glossy.
