I have never had a batch disposal before. I have always had the traditional ones that require a switch to turn on. The only real issue (and its not much of one) is with how our sink is in the kitchen island there isn't a good spot to set the plunger when not in use other than in the sink itself. It is powerful and I am really happy how well it does its job. There is no flap that covers the opening to the drain like on traditional disposals. I thought this would be an issue having it open and silverware falling in. With our drain off to the right it really has not been a problem. Although I did have a fork fall into it the fact that the disposals "neck" between the sink and the bottom is long so the fork never fully fell into the disposal it just stood straight up. Also not having that flap covering the disposal makes it much easier to see at a glance if anything has made its way in that should be there. It is noisy but not bad, just as I expected as from traditional. I like the safety of it not turning on unless the plunger is in. We have young kiddos. Just makes me feel better. The product is very high quality. However, the way it is listed without a depth measurement is stupid! The height measurement is way less important than having length and width ( or depth) so you know if it will fit the shower pan! I ordered the 46.38 x 72 in hope that it would fit my 48 x 36 shower pan & was disappointed to find out that there is a 2” narrower version which of course is the one that I received. The glass panels are packaged very well and weigh 208lbs. so it is not easy to move or unpack & now I have to wait to see if they can just ship the one glass panel that I need or try to repackage the whole thing to return it delaying the project further. After 5 years of being installed we are consistently having problems with 2 of them turning off. After replacing every single electrical component including the dedicated outlets that these are plugged into we are still having problems.
