This is a bit different than it appeared to be to me in the item picture. The top part of this (for stuffed animals, etc) is essentially large open shelf on both sides with vertical, stretchy bands that are attached intermittently on the front and back sides. Solid wood materials. Color is true to the photo. Lots of storage space. The drawers are deep and wide. The fabric cushion on the seat is slippery so you’ll need to put a skid protector underneath it. I also decided the color was too dark so covered the fabric with something lighter. We're overall very happy with the bookshelf and cube system. It looks great in our family room and corrals our kids' toys. We like that the bookshelf holds a lot of books and is easy for our toddler to utilize. The drawer below the bookshelf pulls out easily and fits lots of stuffed animals. The cubes make it easy for our toddler to see her toy options. The open shelves and bins allow our toddler to clean up without assistance. The unit, while it took a while build, was easy to put together. The instructions were straightforward and easy to follow.
