I purchased the LG LDTS5552S dishwasher and have experienced a persistent chemical odor since the beginning of ownership. The smell is difficult to describe precisely, but it resembles heated rubber, vinyl, petroleum products, or synthetic plastic. The odor becomes stronger as the dishwasher heats up and appears to be emitted from the lower vent area. The problem occurs even during normal operation without using the High Temp or Extra Dry settings. Over the past year I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including cleaning the filters repeatedly, running cycles without detergent, using dishwasher cleaning cycles, and removing additional plastic accessories from inside the machine. None of these actions resolved the issue. The dishes themselves do not retain the odor, but the heated air emitted by the dishwasher does. The smell is strong enough to travel beyond the kitchen and can sometimes be noticed on the second floor of the house. After more than a year of trying to live with this issue, I have stopped using the dishwasher altogether and returned to washing dishes by hand because I am not comfortable having my family continuously exposed to the odor. What concerns me most is that this odor appears whenever the appliance is heated, suggesting that materials inside the unit may be releasing volatile compounds into the air. I do not know whether LG has evaluated the long-term impact of breathing these emissions during routine daily use, but I believe this is a legitimate concern that deserves attention. I am disappointed because otherwise the dishwasher performs well. If LG is aware of this issue or has a solution, I would genuinely appreciate a response. I can only review this on look and packaging at this time because I haven't been able to install it yet. But it came nicely packaged and it looks like it has everything I need to install it. I got it because I have a smaller shower and it was the only one I could find that would fit. Which from the look of it, it will. It is a really nice, sturdy door, and it pivots instead of slides. All good except for where the door has to swing out to open, which requires it to be above the track to clear for opening outward, this leaves a big gap from bottom of shower door down to the track and when showering, this allows the water that hits the track to splatter so bad that it wets the floor outside the shower terribly. It needs to come with either an attachable or something from the factory that attaches to the bottom of the door that is flexible plastic/rubber and does not allow the water to splatter out but still allows the door to open and close.. We haven't installed yet. but we like the look and options. Ordered on the 6th of the month, received on the 8th of the next month (32 days). Shipping company couldn't find it on the day we were to receive it, moved delivery another week, then pushed us another week. Wayfair provided no help. I called and cancelled the order on the second missed delivery but they delivered it anyway.
