Tried & True Honest opinion for the Royal Shade Sail Triangle with roping cables in the 18x18x18 size. Many of my friends have the canvas sunshades, always commenting either how heavy or moldy they can become after one season. I researched on WayFair for an ideal solution finding this particular style in the white color. Made out of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) this is considered to be a strong, lightweight, and durable thermoplastic made from petroleum. Known for its high strength-to-density ratio and excellent resistance to chemicals and moisture, it is one of the most widely used plastics in the world, however there are some draw backs as I temporarily hung it above my back patio. Ironically, as soon as this was delivered, my HOA advised to take everything down off of the house since I am scheduled for the upcoming painting cycle. Being hung temporarily, it was easy to hang, sun shining thru brightened the area under a canopy as providing an easy shade. The unveiling: packaged well, instructions and hardware included. I included the no no's on the instruction page as one has to wait for the fold wrinkles to iron out themselves over time, no regular ironing, no dryer, no dry clean, no scrubbing with a stiff brush or cleaners, no bleach as can lead to permanent breakdown of fabrics. UM.....alrighty then. The fabric is definitely a loose plastic weave with tiny air holes thru out to allow air flow. Not water proof (as stated) as I sprayed a hose over it, water does pool in any loose areas so make sure the fabric is very taught. Light weight for traveling and can be hung by one person. Included are pictures up close of the material as not really seen on the website. Now knowing what to expect, no surprises at this time, I am looking forward to hanging it up over the patio, and sitting under the canopy of shade for the upcoming summer heat. Enjoy!. Kelly. Instructions are very bad. I have it half assembled and must now undo it and reassemble differently. The instructions are not clear as to part orientation. The pictures are too small to show the correct way to orient pieces. What seemed obvious was wrong. In addition there are many spelling errors in the instructions. Just moved to the desert and it was one of the first things we did to be able to use the patio while unpacking boxes. We bought 2 and really happy we did. Nice quality material but design not well thought out. Pole sections do not bolt together. They fit onto the top of each one below. There is definite concern that a wind load on the sail could pull the pole apart with potentially catastrophic results (if the sail is blown around with a heavy top section of pole attached). Can’t understand why the sections would not bolt together, especially since the bottom screw tipped section does not screw into the ground deep enough to effectively anchor the pole for a sail. If they bolted together, you could turn the 2nd bolted section to drive the 1st section deeper into the ground. Didn’t anyone think about that?? Seems obvious.. Elizabeth. Bay Head, NJ. Absolutely love our new pergola. It was pretty easy to assemble and feels very sturdy. We can finally enjoy our deck on sunny days. Love that we can slide the awning open.
