Yes, if you get right up to it you can tell they are not real, but not from a normal viewing distance. I love the box it came in too. I was prepared to purchase a storage bag, but I don't think I will need one for quite a few years. There is a box inside a very sturdy box for storage. It will fit nicely in my closet (if I take it down) and is sturdy enough to stack ornament boxes on top of. It truly is pretty enough to leave up all year! I also love the off and on button. The button is large and tiny or old hands can turn the tree on with ease. I have the button on the floor to step on and off, but the cord is long enough to give you options!
