Use the Allen key that looks like a wine bottle opener! These chairs are beautiful, sturdy and very comfortable, but they take a few hours to put together. The first chair took me forever to assemble, but I used it as a learning experience. I learned that I could have saved myself a ton of time if I had used the provided allen key with the red top (looks like a wine bottle opener), instead of the conventional one that was also provided. I also learned that I needed help from someone else for a few stages in the process because it saves a lot of time. Things went a lot smoother and faster when I put together the second chair. I am very happy with the quality of these chairs! I have been looking for some that cold and that won't mold. I was about to purchase another highly recommended chair until I decided to see its competition. And these rated higher in quite a few criteria. Yet the other chair was advertised and these were buried in the search results. My only con is like what others have said - the instructions on how to build these chairs are highly highly inefficient and poor. It took me half an hour to build one. Now that I know what I've done, this should easily take me 15 mins to build. The instructions are clear. Aren't good. Aren't logical. You're gonna have your head on a swivel going between parts and instructions, with you asking yourself - Is this right? Instruction fail! Waste cause its such a great chair, high quality, and comfortable. Note though, when folded, they still have quite a large footprint. Gotta figure out where I'm gonna keep these.
