2.5” is a lot of rubber to keep my grandson safe while playing on playset. I used a jigsaw to cut in and around obstacles and it was not difficult. I love these. They bring all several shades of blue that hep tie my room together. The frame has a slight shimmer to it. The size is nice. They are light weight and only one nail is needed.
