I was able to do the complete assembly by myself but needed help to lift the awning into place on the brackets. I mounted the brackets in the rim joist between the first and second floors... as such I needed to purchase some lag screws as the anchors provided with the awning were suited more to mounting on brick or concrete. I recently had siding put on my home. My contractor sort of refused to put my old awnings back on the house - rightfully so - would have been awful! So, I started searching for suitable choices. Many were negated because they wouldn't have mounted to the siding correctly. Then I found this (and a larger one for my front door but got that one elsewhere as Wayfair didn't have that size) and realized that a mounting kit could be purchased for vinyl siding! Hooray! It's gorgeous - so minimalistic and really matches the house. It hasn't rained yet so I don't know how well it will shield but at least it looks pretty.
