Need to be careful not to damage the paint when shortening the chain. This chandelier is very sturdy and other than the lights not included the parts don't break. I purchased 2 of these magnificent lighting units. Plan on a 1-2 day job for your electrician, (2 units took 2 days). They have to reinforce your ceiling with wood between the joists. These fixtures are MAGNIFICENT!. Use only the LED dimmers listed in the installation manual to assure flicker-free dimming. A real plus is that these units use replaceable LED bulbs. Other cheaper units do not, which means on the cheaper units you toss the whole fixture. The lead crystal "pendants" on this are magical. I'm going to post photos. You can adjust the pendant cords to any length/configuration you want. These are on either side of my bed in Master Bedroom. A real show-stopper. Design notes on the Nottaway Bronze Grande Chandelier include long arms that stretch gracefully from small cogs and a ring that ornaments its bottom-most point.
