The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. Love this! Debated about the purchase for a while, but finally went for it, and my cats are in love. Its sturdy and assembly instructions are straight forward. Plenty of room for both of my large cats (about 12-14 lbs each). I added some finer screening around it to keep bugs out (just stapled it to the frame) and created a wood frame that fits inside my window so it can be secured without attaching it to the exterior of my house. Fantastic price and delivery of a quality bird cage (the 36x28 dome top is perfect for my active African grey parrot. A steal at $600 with Wayfair's massive sale! My grey is very happy and I can put in more toys and a giant rope boing for her to hang out on. Once I get the new wheels (the stock ones are fine, it's just my preference) I'll add the seed guard..
