We specifically bought this bookcase because the description stated the shelves were metal. Upon arrive, however, the shelves were MDF (manufactured wood) which is the very thing we were trying to avoid. Some will appear grayer and some will appear browner. We cannot guarantee a certain color. It all depends on what wood we get in that week.** To keep the genuine rustic look of this product we use reclaimed wood and we're always sure to make sure the surfaces are sanded smooth and splinter-free as possible. Please keep in mind that no two pieces will look the exact same and the natural wood color will vary in shade, texture, and tone (some grayer and some browner). This is the result of natural wood weathering. Also, please keep in mind that old nail holes, knot holes, and cracks are a part of what adds character to these one-of-a-kind pieces and can be expected.

Love this coffee table. Bought it with two matching end tables and a sideboard TV stand. The finish has a hint of brown in it, and the casters are super helpful when I have guests over. I've had it for a few months now with zero issues. Very solid construction and easy to assemble. Would recommend having a drill to drive the screws, but it's not impossible without a drill..
