My husband and preschooler put these together quickly. My husband had a lot of positive things to say about the quality (until he found out how much I paid per chair, and then he said, “What! You paid what! No wonder they’re so good!”). We use the chairs without cushions and they don’t feel too hard. I am 5’2, and my knees ache after a while of sitting in them even though I’m not a person who usually gets joint aches. I could probably benefit from a foot stool. But my husband is 5’9 and finds them comfortable. Despite the cost, we plan to invest in three more of these chairs for our children to use. I expect them to last a long time. We use these at our fire pit. The arm rests are nice and wide for putting a drink, phone, or small plate. Our kids are ages 1-7 and the chairs are wide enough for two kids to sit. Update: We have had the chairs for more than four years now, and they look as good as the day we bought them, despite sitting fully exposed to the elements. I loved the idea of this set, the two seats with the tabletop connecting them was ideal for my space. HDPE construction seemed comfortable to similar "Polywood" types of furniture at a reasonable price point. As I unpacked the box, I found that the furniture is "blow molded", so it's hollow on the inside, similar to children play house or playground equipment. The material of this chair outside looks almost identical to real wood, but until you sit in it you will find that it is more comfortable than wood, after all, with the passage of time, the wood must grow out of the splinter. The chair has stronger weather resistance because of the HIPS material but is also more smooth than traditional wood. There is no need to polish, paint or seal it for storage because it will not rot, peel or splinter. Some chairs are indeed practical but lack a graceful look. This chair arrived two days ago, opened up a day later and spent 1 1/2 hours assembling it (quite hot outside) and another 20 minutes finishing it this morning. The reason it took so long was because two of the large bolts were hard to seat all the way and had to be removed and reinserted with a vice grip. However, the chair is now fully assembled and seems very solid. It is obviously large and well designed for a big guy, as I am 6' 2" and weigh 230 lbs. Simply put, I feel very comfortable sitting in this chair in any of the 3 positions! My wife is now designing & making a seat cushion & headrest. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this chair. Assembly for this was very easy and took me about a half hour. I did need my daughter to hold on to a part while I assembled it because I did want to make sure it was done correctly. I’m picky but just a heads up in case you will need assistance with that part as well. Two of the pieces were labeled incorrectly but it wasn’t hard to figure out what and how. Directions were easy to understand as well. This is a heavy and sturdy piece of furniture. I do love that this isn’t wood but a hard thick plastic. The ability to have the cup holder to be tucked away when not in use is also a feature that I appreciate. The cup holder holds moats beverages perfectly with no issues. This is by far one of the most comfortable pieces of lawn furniture I have sat in. I love the angle it offers and the comfort is spot on. This hasn’t scratched at all and we have had many people sit in this and enjoy it. It does sit out in the sun and I haven’t noticed any sun damage. The color is absolutely stunning.
