Some adirondacks are really slanted toward the back; the cushions on these really make the seating surface way more comfy. My husband and preschooler put these together quickly. My husband had a lot of positive things to say about the quality (until he found out how much I paid per chair, and then he said, “What! You paid what! No wonder they’re so good!”). We use the chairs without cushions and they don’t feel too hard. I am 5’2, and my knees ache after a while of sitting in them even though I’m not a person who usually gets joint aches. I could probably benefit from a foot stool. But my husband is 5’9 and finds them comfortable. Despite the cost, we plan to invest in three more of these chairs for our children to use. I expect them to last a long time. We use these at our fire pit. The arm rests are nice and wide for putting a drink, phone, or small plate. Our kids are ages 1-7 and the chairs are wide enough for two kids to sit. Update: We have had the chairs for more than four years now, and they look as good as the day we bought them, despite sitting fully exposed to the elements. There is no need to polish, paint or seal it for storage because it will not rot, peel or splinter. Some chairs are indeed practical but lack a graceful look. On both counts, the chair strikes a wonderful balance. It will always complement your patio style. The wide armrests add to the resin Adirondack chair a classic, vintage look to place snacks on, and the angled back adds some soft style. I ordered 4 of these Adirondack chairs to place in our backyard in front of a fire pit. The chairs arrived promptly and were very well packaged. The boxes are indeed heavy and we had to move them to the backyard with a cart. Each box includes all the screws, a screwdriver, and a detailed instruction booklet to assemble them. Each chair part has a letter, so you just need to follow the instructions carefully. We struggled with one part (the back part of the armrest where it attaches to the chair back—enlarge the chair picture to make sure you get it right and don't put it on the outside). I assembled them with my teenage son and the first one took us about an hour to put together, but once you understand how to do it, the rest are faster to build. The quality is great, durable, and I've had them for about 3 months now and we love them. I hose them down and then dry the seating parts with a small towel, so they are super easy to clean. The armrest is wide enough to hold a large beverage, and the angle of the back is good to offer a comfortable seating experience. I added some back pillows for additional comfort.
