These tiles will add beauty, sound dampening, and insulation

First off, as other people have said, these tiles are like the Styrofoam plates that I grew up using. I was a little nervous about that. Make sure you use a glue that is made for adhering foam. They went up easy. Youre going to have to paint because I could see the glue through the Styrofoam after I put them up. Caulk the seams with a paintable acrylic caulk. Acrylic or latex water-based paint is recommended. I used latex. I was able to do all of the paint with a 38 nap and cover everything except the seams, which I used a brush. I went light on the first coat to get it covered and prep for the second coat. Im pretty happy with the results. I received the tiles about 24 hours ago and have been able to get my 6x10 bathroom through the first coat of paint since then. Overall, a pretty fast and easy project.. Lisa. Iowa. Sun Jun 09 2024

Yes it’s styrofoam, but that makes it super easy to install IF you actually read the directions and use the correct adhesive. You can paint is using standard latex wall paint if you’re careful it’ll look amazing. Very easy to cut very easy to install. I painted mine first then over rolled and caulked the seams after I installed a few. If you get the 3d ones I would get an air sprayer and put 2 coats of paint on then install caulk and paint the seams. As with anything if you want good results read the directions first look up the videos and take your time. This medallion is lovely. It is a full inch thick and difficult to cut without a proper hole bit. It is made of sturdy Styrofoam, but even short nails gouge the surface. We scarred it up a bit getting it up there. Because it was a full inch thick, the screws that came with the chandelier were too short so we had to go to the hardware store. What was once considered an expensive luxury, is now an affordable pursuit for a home that defines you.

nicely made polystyrene pieces which are well designed, but require an expert carpenter for a quality installation due to slight variations from piece to piece, injected molded from similar but not identical molds. Per my carpenter, these were convenient, but required a tremendous of finesse and adjustments at every miter joint to look right. Quality glue (PL Premium) and a solid substrate that will not move (a grid of 1x3's glued and screwed to ceiling joists) are essential for stability. Overall "a wash" in terms of time and expense compared to having full boxes and mouldings constructed the old fashioned way. For the curved bay windows straight pieces needed to be hollowed out, bent, and carefully glued and tacked in place under high tension.
