The metal bars you click in place and they are to hold the sofa cushions in place which is a nice touch..it also brings the metal covers and two bring pockets to put magazines a remote or anything. The cushions are to be velcroed but honestly the velcro it has is not that great. I went ahead and zip tied the top 2 cushion because the the velcro was not sticky enough to hold them.
