The metal has a brushed age looking patina already straight out of the box which lends to almost an antique look. The edges are not sharp, and with the little hook at the top it is a cinch to hook wherever you’d like. It’s purpose to sit at a drain spout and allow the rain to fall down in between the butterfly however, I’ve kept it mostly indoors, although the first little bit that I had that I kept it outdoors to check for durability which it was perfect. I like it on my curtains as it is decorative, a special kind of accent. There’s a ton of different things you could do with it, I believe.
