There are two round cut outs near the top at the back of the rain barrel and I assume that’s for venting air as the barrel fills as well as when water is dispensed. Or I suppose it could be for overflow There was no diagram of the rain barrel explaining all the nuances. One does have to be careful though, because it is plastic it can break if it potentially falls. However it is pretty strong and well built. It holds quite a bit actually and if you have a smaller garden this should be good. If you have a bigger one maybe 2 or 3 of these should be sufficient. I bought this barrel and the diverter kit separately. Works best when you convert the top to a planter . This barrel is sturdy and was compatible with the eco station diverter kit. I bought 2 , and curiously enough one barrel came with 2 brass spigots and the other came with just one plastic spigot … plastic spigot does not look sturdy.. also the spigot cut out is low so you may want to elevate barrel for sufficient pressure, although you could cut your own hole and insert a spigot.
