There was a problem with insalling of the fixture, we needed to call in a professional electrician, as we had power to the main part (ceiling) of the fixture, and still would not function, our electrician found that the main part (stem) had not been wired to the lower arms of the fixture, he proceeded to connect the arms of the fixture and all was in working order. I LOVE THIS BED! The quality is great and very sturdy. Inwas very surprised at how well the wood feels and is very sturdy. A simple twin mattress is enough. There is not enough room for a double or thick style twin bed on top. A queen air mattress fits underneath, so a double would definetly fit. Having 2 people to build it is the best way. Directions were great and all parts are supplied. I would advise to have a better hex/allen wrench set as the included one is not the greatest quality.
