It would need to be scuffed up well to take any paint, so when one side accidentally had trim applied to it and there were tiny nail holes after we removed the trim strip the painters were concerned about painting the whole door because the finish wouldn't be as good if they had to prep the whole door and eventually the paint-over could fail vs if we just kept most of the door untouched and just painted the one style to cover the small nail holes. Still looks beautiful though. Needed to mount on a piece of trim above the door opening because we kept the door opening trimmed.. Michelle. West Hartford, CT. Wed Mar 11 2026
