The rough-in valve can be installed in any direction as long as the bathtub center line is aligned with one of the six screws on the plaster guard. Nice piece, but it's really more of an institutional item and assumes that you are replacing an existing urinal or have framing in place to accommodate an install. Installing this in a dry-walled garage, for instance, will take some doing including cutting away drywall and add 2x4 supports. The faucet is handsome, but the product photography doesn't illustrate important elements- there is a red and blue dot under the moveable control. The set screw for this is located in such a way, that if you install it so it's hidden, you will have a non-traditional arrangement: hot on the right and cold on the left. Also I'm not sure what's causing this, but the faucet makes a noise when running that sounds like someone above you is using a hair dryer. I've never had a faucet make a noise like this one...
