Pine with a baked on finish which looks fantastic. Assembly is simple and the directions are straightforward. Everything aligned perfectly and it took about 45 min to assemble both boxes. It's not white unfortunately. More of an off/soft-white, so it doesn't match my cabinets. But I like it so much I don't mind. It wasn't difficult to put together at all. I have a bad dominant shoulder and struggle with basic tasks, and I was able to put this together myself. Now the box it came in was VERY heavy.
