First of all I love it! I could not believe though that the shelves were not made of clear glass so the lights illuminate both the top and bottom. So I bought two 11X14 picture frames, cheap at the dollar store, and used just the glass and the frame as shelves. They fit perfectly. I then used one of the wood shelves as a base for my subwoofer. Set aside a full morning or afternoon to assemble properly. There are lots of steps and nuances to putting this cabinet together. When I read some folks took 6 hours to assemble, I thought it was because they did not have a clue how to assemble something like this. I was wrong. A very skilled person assembled ours and I would say it took about the same. But taking your time makes it look so much nicer. We got the distressed wood one, which at the time was more expensive, but the look was what I was going for. The piece looks beautiful, and I love the options of just lights, lights and heat, and already used the timer feature. Only downside we did not see the large dent (must have happened in transit) in the top edge until it was all glued and assembled!!! But it’s a charm after fully done. The main difficulty we had was to align the two front side doors. Four stars for looks. I didnt have a fireplace in my home and have always had one. I love how this looks and it puts out enough heat that its actually saved me on my heating bill this winter versus last winter. The only cautionary thing I will say is I guess I didnt read the description very well and I thought the top was some kind of marble but its wood that looks like marble however its tastefully done.
