Ordered these in white to coordinate with other tiles by this company with prints on them but. same texture and white background. The finish is a nice gloss so dirt should wipe off easily but still manage to retain the old Mediterranean feel I am looking for on this project which are outdoor steps into the garden. The tile arrived a bit chipped but it will not affect the top surface of the tile or strength of the tile as the porcelain appears to be thick and of good quality. Size matches exactly to the measurements of the printed tiles I received earlier so I won't complicate installation. These have great water resistance, and are fine for outdoors as well as indoors.. These are 6"x2" Bejmat tiles (150x50x13mm). Bejmat are a particular style of rectangular Glazed Zellige tiles, with slabs cut before firing. These thinner bejmat help reduce the weight for wall applications. Produced by hand in Fez, Morocco, these Moroccan mosaic floor tiles are known the world over. Still made with the local clays, and fired in kilns powered by olive pits, these rectangular floor tiles are authentic Zellige (zellij).

We were Inspired by Guastavino's exquisite tile arch when we create our Guastavino tile Collection; Guastavino was a Spanish architect and builder. Based on the Catalan vaults he created the Guastavino tile, a "Tile Arch System" patented in the United States in 1885 and used for constructing robust, self-supporting arches and architectural vaults using interlocking terracotta tiles and layers of mortar. Guastavino tile is found in some of New York's most prominent Beaux-Arts landmarks and in major buildings across the United States. It is used in a huge number of architecturally important and famous buildings with vaulted spaces. Guastavino was not the principal architect for most of the projects.

The tile is lovely. The red/orange hue shows a little through the white coloring though. One thing to note is to make sure the grouter knows not to fill in the gaps on edge of the surface.
