The rough-in valve can be installed in any direction as long as the bathtub center line is aligned with one of the six screws on the plaster guard. The Symmons W-400 Washing Machine Valve is constructed of solid brass and stainless steel and carries a limited lifetime consumer warranty. This valve only assembly removes water supply pressure between cycles or during vacations to prevent burst hoses that could lead to damaging floods. I bought this faucet trim for its modern style. It's a little larger than I expected, and it does not come with a shut off valve, as many of them do not. But after calling around I finally found the one that goes with it and everything is working fine. If my budget was larger, I would have chosen an entire shower trim set that was very expensive and more sleek. But this was a middle ground that I found pleasing. I would recommend this product.
