It's a nice cabinet and heavy, but not solid oak as we had thought. It's an oak veneer and not all oak veneer in some spots so if you get unfinished staining doesn't work very well, so we had to paint ours. The colors are absolutely beautiful as it changes with whatever is playing on tv. Yes the colors are bright, but not overly bright. There is a color-shifting mode also. Kids will especially love this feature added to their tvs. There’s a camera-like piece that you attach to the top of the tv which is what attracts the colors.
