I was quite apprehensive about buying such an expensive and heavy (300 lbs) item for delivery to Canada, as oversized items can be tricky to return. This was extremely well packaged. It was delivered by moving truck on a wooden pallet (as depicted), and we ended up taking NINE BAGS of packing material to the dump. I offer the following tips for assembly 1) Its very heavy. We used three people to lift the basin onto the pedestal, and a fourth person to navigate the power cord so it wouldnt get crushed. 2) The instructions that come with it are quite basic. They tell you to make sure the rubber stopper is secured well in the basin to avoid leaks. I pushed it in by hand, which wasnt enough, as the basin wasnt holding water. I had to disassemble and carefully tap the stopper in with a rubber mallet, taking care to avoid the power cord running through the center. 3) The rubber stopper appears to be one solid piece, which was confusing at first, but it actually has a hairline split in the side which allows you to press the power cable into the middle of the rubber plug. 4) They provided a large roll of black tubing that needs to be cut. The first segment I cut was a little too long, which caused the hose to crimp and impeded water flow. I shortened it considerably, but this made connecting it a little difficult. A second person needs to support the weight while the connection is made. 5) The clear tubing for the top portion (which is smaller in circumference than the black tubing) was missing. Fortunately we had a suitable replacement on hand. There are no interlocking pieces, it is all held together by weightgravity, so it requires a solid foundation. Initially, I was a little put off by the colour of the fountain as it is much more tera cotta (orangebrown) than I thought it would be, but it looks nice now that it is all assembled and running. My aim was to replace our old acrylic fountain that had broken apart over time. Hopefully, this concrete one will last for many years! Lovely and the birds and bees love it. Black started flaking off tho during the first couple of months. We only paint the outside (in the off season after drying) for critter safety, but 3 yrs now and it’s still running with the same pump. Bought a birdbath heater and used it right through winter last so seems pretty soiid. For the price, I expect at least 5 year lifespan and the current condition would seem it will make that. Caryl. Set up a little while ago layers snap but don’t seem very tight. Its much louder streaming than I thought, tried adjusting pump but haven’t gotten it to sound smoother trickling. The top bubbler is very wobbly. All in all the fountain looks nice just need to tweak the pump I guess. Not very easy to adjust the pump sine it’s enclosed. The product seems to stand the test of time in the AZ heat. Not the easiest to clean because the slots to twist to take it apart are often sticky and somewhat difficult to install and remove.
