One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. Love the way it turned out. It’s definitely a two person job. It was fairly simple assembly until you get to the roofing part. Putting on the metal roof was a challenge, but workable with two people- one on a ladder. The holes lined up exactly with all pieces, but a few times we had to maneuver them and adjust to line things up. We did line up all of the roofing pieces on the ground before beginning as shown in the instructions. Highly suggest that. After assembly, it didn’t not feel as sturdy as we wanted, so we mounted ours to 4 x 4’s and staked those into the ground with rebar. Feels sturdy now. We are very pleased with it.. Kellye. The shipment packaging is extremely well done and even though there was damage to the boxes, the product was sufficiently protected had no damage due to shipping. The 12x20 pergola I ordered is close to 1000 pounds shipping in 7 boxes so the heaviest single box is about 150 lbs so two people are needed to move it around. The instructions recommended 4 people for the install. I had my brother to help but due to the weight I wanted 6 people (one at each post) to move the assembled product to minimize damage to the frame. High quality parts all around but because it’s all aluminum that is great for lower weight but it is still 1/2 ton of weight that needs to be moved around during an installation. Absolutely LOVE our grill gazebo!!! At first, I was concerned about assembly because there are so many pieces, but I was actually able to put it together myself with the exception of help to stand it up and extra hands to put on the roof sheets.
