I was very disappointed in the benches I received. They were not black nor were they poly lumber. They were wood and brown. When I contacted the company, I was given options to either keep them or return them. I was not given an amount of what it would cost to return them but I figured it would be costly because they are pretty heavy. After a conversation with a customer service representative, I agreed to keep them with a 20% discount. Then came time to put them together and that was also a disappointment. Several of the wholes were not big enough for the screw covers so it took almost 4 hours to put one together-we did not have the time nor the patience to put the other one together. The instructions were poorly written and hard to follow. Unrelated to this purchase but also a disappointment was a lamp I received from this company a week earlier that had broken wires and needed to be replaced. Use the Allen key that looks like a wine bottle opener! These chairs are beautiful, sturdy and very comfortable, but they take a few hours to put together. The first chair took me forever to assemble, but I used it as a learning experience. I learned that I could have saved myself a ton of time if I had used the provided allen key with the red top (looks like a wine bottle opener), instead of the conventional one that was also provided. I also learned that I needed help from someone else for a few stages in the process because it saves a lot of time. Things went a lot smoother and faster when I put together the second chair. I loved the idea of this set, the two seats with the tabletop connecting them was ideal for my space. HDPE construction seemed comfortable to similar "Polywood" types of furniture at a reasonable price point. As I unpacked the box, I found that the furniture is "blow molded", so it's hollow on the inside, similar to children play house or playground equipment. It's not all bad, and I'm sure it's quite durable, but it's not what I was expecting. Returning was easy, but paying return shipping was tough to swallow given the misleading description.. Chris. NC.
