Took a bit to figure out the back needs to flip up as part of the “assembly”. Very firm cushions. Both the top and the bottom cushions are sown together and cannot be reversed. There is a piece that flips up in the back to make the backrest, which was not obvious from the instructions. Only assembly required is to add the feet, flip the back up, remove the plastic off the mattress and place the cushions. The bottom cushions are sewn together, and cannot be flipped. The sleeper sofa futon was selected for kids man cave. The material cushions are heavy duty. The height of the futon is low to the ground. The instructions were clear to the pointe. I love this chair. It's VERY firm but I like that. The color is the punch that the room needed. I did get a memory foam topper for comfort for when it's used as a bed.
