I purchased the 3-shelf size, 36" H X 48" wide. It holds my entire cookbook collection and does double duty as a divider between the foyer and kitchen/dining area. Beautiful, heavy wood in the mission style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the backing. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing. The back of this bookcase is some sort of shiny, vinyl covered panel and the color is awful. Maybe it was meant to be faux marble, but they missed by a mile. Overall happy with bookcase as it serves it's purpose. Nice and heavy but there in lies a problem as it ships in 1 package. Packaging looked very rough and delivered with a corner damaged. FedEx driver warned me it was unusually heavy and helped me carry it into house. Luckily you can't see the damage as it's on bottom unless you're looking for it. Nitpicking wise the top trim piece does not line up flush and isn't adjustable as guide piece is glued on so it sits a little crooked on top. Again overall happy with product, would buy again.. I’ve been looking for storage options for a while, mostly for books but having the option for other things as well, and a dresser was too bulky while a book case was too narrow and tall. This is perfect. It’s well made and looks great. The back is pressed board with a wood laminate and there is definitely an order to install the back panels. There are no pre-drilled holes for the back panels, and while I did it through sheer willpower and determination, a power screwdriver would be helpful. This bookcase is really lovely. I had been looking for an antique bookshelf and just was not finding anything that was in good condition and in my price range. I started looking elsewhere and when I saw this, I loved it. Sent a link to my husband, and he liked it too. Reading the reviews, a few people mentioned that the finish was not totally smooth on the shelves - that has actually played in my favor. I don't have to use bookends for the books I have put on it, so that's a big plus in my opinion. The color is lovely, and it goes well with the furniture in our space. I was skeptical about this shelf unit because there's only one (low resolution) photo on Wayfair and no reviews from previous buyers. But it's the exact size I need and has extra deep shelves which I also need ...so I decided to take a chance on it. It arrived today and I'm very happy with it.
