This shelf set is what I expected for the price. The pine is a 2 grade, has been stained, but not top coated. The wood is sturdy enough, kiln dried, and reasonably well stained. I applied several coats of polyurethane to it and it looks excellent. As the wood ages even the color tones will even out. For the price this has been an excellent value and easy to work with. For the price I did not expect AAA wood. But, considering the cost of such items, this was solid by comparison and with a little work looks like a high grade item. I would absolutely recommend this. I used three coats of hand applied satin polyurethane and the finished effect was something you typically see only in upgraded or premium priced items. The bookshelf is wonderful. Very sturdy and it looks high quality. As you can see I am using for our tv and it’s deep enough where the hdmi cords have room to be plugged in horizontally into the back of the tv. Heavy duty rustic shelving piece. Overall happy with the product. Some scratches in several places that can easily be touched up with a stain marker. Top shelf did not sit properly as if already attached metal piece was preinstalled incorrectly. See last picture. Top shelf is a bit wonky due to this.
