The construction illustrations are a bit difficult to follow at first. Fortunately, I was able to unsnap/disconnect the pieces that I erroneously snapped together. Then figured it out and got the two cubes assembled properly. They seem pretty stable and do hold enough for my purposes -- 4 thick chair pads in one and some gardening tools in the other. I used a rubber mallet to save banging with my hands to snap the pieces together.
