The Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as fine octahedrite, type IVA (Of) which impacted northern Scandinavia, west of the border between Sweden and Finland, about one million years BCE. The meteorite was first described in 1910 by professor A. G. Högbom, who named it "Muonionalusta", after a nearby place on the Muonio River. It fell 110,000 years ago but was discovered in 1906. We love the Tarantula Nebula design. But had never seen a rug like this. It is not a "normal" rug. It is more like a velour fabric attached to a backing. It is described as "100% high quality polyester" "power loomed". It is very soft but because of the fabric it is made of, it shows the footprints from your shoes. But for the most part, they blend in with the design. We are also still working on getting the ends to lay flat and we have had it for almost a month. But the design is so cool, we are keeping the rug and living with the minor issues. Thought it would be helpful for people to know what they are getting.
