The stair treads are exactly what I expected. Color is spot on and amazing slip resistant. I don’t think anything else will be needed to prevent slipping. Size options were a definite bonus . I'm really happy with these stair carpets- it was hard to find ones with the correct dimensions for my staircase which has pretty thick edging, and in the color that matches my painted stairs and is textured. I was worried they weren't going to be soft/cushioned enough, but the cross texture feels comfortable on my feet and adds that extra traction I was looking for. All around a great purchase! *Some things to note- it was hard to peel the thin plastic off the back, so just take your time with it, and make sure the Velcro truly lines up with the carpet edge or it will look crooked and not stick right. These are medium duty stair treads. This is my second purchase, the first set were used on my back stairs and have held up nicely for almost a year and a half and still perform and look good. I stapled them on the back stairs, but don't recommend doing that, the cheapo staples rusted. Unlike tape, rubber backed stair treads will not cause damage to the surface when you attempt to remove them. I was looking for anti-slip treads that I didn't have to use adhesive on and these were a clear winner. They do have a bit of a funky chemical smell right out of the package because they are rubberized, but it dissipated within a day. Love the look and feel of these stair tread mats but wish they didnt move around as much as they do. I bought these because my dog is aging and keeps sliding and slipping as she goes up and down the stairs. These carpet treads help her with her grip and are particularly helpful when it is raining. However, when our parents come over we remove them because they do slide around and I would hate for them to slip and fall.
