All in all, happy with the final product, despite the challenges of building it. Have built dozens of furniture items over the years, but I’ve never experienced such horrible instructions. Love this bed! It has a few quirks, though. First, I think if possible, you should put the side of the without the stairs against a wall to prevent too much wobbling. I tried stairs to the wall and had some movement when climbing in the bed. As for the height, I am a 55 adult, and I only need to duck a small amount to fit under the bed, so this bed is great for short adults and teens! I had my 6 foot friend test it out for fun, and he definitely didnt fit. For roof space, that varies from person to person Im sure, I have had a bunk bed most of my life so being close to the roof doesnt bother me, but if you get claustrophobic easily, mesure your room first and then yourself to make sure you have a sufficient amount of space. The bed itself can not be put together alone. You need at least one other person to help because it becomes a lot quickly. The boards are held together by tension, and its very secure, and I havent had any issues with it (my weight is 185 for reference). The lights that come with the bed are kinda cheap though, the options on the remote dont match what the lights do, so if you want the LED lights to have colors like pink, orange, yellow and most greens (its mostly blue and teal settings) get another strip from a different brand. For mattress size, Im sure a slim is definitely the way to go, but if you have a thicker mattress and arent at risk for rolling off the bed, then youll be alright, just mesure the thickness first so you know how itll fit, honestly measuring things is key with this bed, as long as you are happy with whatever mesuments you get, youll love this bed.. We are very happy with this loft bed. It looks beautiful, feels sturdy, and has really helped maximize the space in my daughter’s room. She now has plenty of room underneath for studying, doing her makeup, and storage. The only issue was the ladder. The steps are narrow and hard on bare feet, and the included pads would roll and didn’t provide enough cushioning. We solved this by adding foam padding around each rung and covering it with soft material. It made a huge difference and the ladder is now much more comfortable to use. This is for my 11 year old. He uses the desk to build his legos on and we store some tubs of lego's under the desk so that they are accessible for him to create things. The LED lights don't do much to light up under the bed. They are more for fun to decorate under the bed. We have added some LED lighting in different places under his bed so that it is depressing to hang out under there. It hurts a bit to climb the ladder. Not my favorite thing. However, I have discovered that most bunkbeds have this issue. The bed is a teeny bit squeaky if wiggled. My 17yr old son and I built the bed.
