Marrying the functionality of a secretary desk with that of a traditional console, this Dieuwer Console is a portrait of country cottage chic. Dieuwer's pull out writing surfaces, lower shelf, and two bottom drawers prove it a master of both form and function, while a weathered oak finish makes Dieuwer absolutely timeless.

We really like the Solid Wood Console Table, but it was difficult to assemble. And the assembly instructions were not complete. It is not surprising that some people were unable to put in 2 of the 4 screws in the top. What worked for us was to put in the easier 2 first, but not tighten them until all the screws are in place. To reach the 2 difficult screws of the top, the pull-out wood "surfaces" must be removed from their tracks, and that is not easy to do. We put the table with the top and the sides held together by 2 screws on its back. There are little clips in the mechanism on either side of the boards; one clip must be pushed up (toward the table top) and the other clip pushed down. For ours, we pressed the left one up and the right on down in order to release the board from the tracks. It took 2 of us; one person lit the track with a flashlight and used a screwdriver to release the clip. The other person supported the table parts and pulled the board out as the clips were released. Once the boards were removed, the difficult screws could be put in place. Putting the bottom together was easier, but it was challenging to line up one of the screw holes. One of us used a flash light and a small hand held mirror to see into the hole while the other person moved the bottom as indicated, all while holding the drawer pulled out as far as possible. Once all 6 screws were in place, they were tightened. Replacing the boards in their tracks was also tricky. The right one had to be placed back in the right side of the table. This is a lovely piece to compliment an empty wall space. However, there are a few things we were a little disappointed with. The instructions say it's easy to put together, and should be done in an hour. Maybe for the professionals. For my husband, and I (yes you do need 2 people to assemble), it took over two hours. The instructions are all in pictures, and no words so while it was easy to figure out what went where, we still had to double check we were using the correct amount of hardware for each piece. We assumed it was only for pieces to put together. Not the case- it's more than 4, less than 20. Also usually furniture comes with 'caps' to lay over the screws so it looks finished. There were no 'caps' included. So while the end product is quite lovely, we will be very careful if we order again since we do not want to have to put anything together.
