The shelves are solid wood, but not a single piece of solid wood. Rather, each shelf in the shelf set I received has two pieces of wood glued together. These shelves are solid, sturdy and true to the color you see online. I can’t speak to how easy they are to install, because we are waiting for the room to be painted before we install them.
