I was dreading opening this after I saw the small-medium box it came in. The tall wood portion came in three sections. Each section screwed into the other, the line where they connect is not visible. The base is nice and heavy, when you screw the base on, it all looks like one seamless piece. This is a matte finish, very handsome. Not a shiny polyurethane look. Nice matching finial, the shade is attractive. Again, I was pleasantly surprised with the appearance of the shade for the price point. So simple to put together and quickly done. UPDATE..... Wayfair made good on the problem that I had with my floor lamp and sent me a replacement lamp pole/base. I truly love this lamp so much and it goes so well with my decor that a refund was not an option for me because I wanted another one or the replacement part. I am back to being one very happier customer. Oh my gosh, I have to edit my 5 star review to a now a 2 star. I have only owned it for less than a month and I went to move it today from my living room and into my dining room. As soon as I picked it up by the column with two hands, the base broke completely off of the column. It's like the once assembled you cannot lift it as the top 3/4 of the column is heavier than the base causing it to separate. I am devastated as I just love this lamp. This was my original review....This is a gorgeous lamp and it was super easy to assemble. The linen looking shade compliments the lamp perfectly and I couldn’t wait to buy a bulb to turn it on. This lamp imitates the shape of a budding flower. The wide base closes in slightly at the neck before opening back up at the top producing a bloom of upward light. Features fossilized cocoa leaves arranged vertically that are hand placed on a standard UL lamp backing and then laminated, creating the three side panels of the lamp. The panels are hand stitched onto a powder-coated, wrought iron frame to form a curved design. The upper interior of the lamp is finished with additional fossilized cocoa leaves.
