When the package arrived I unpacked all the items snd noticed one item cracked and I was so disappointed plus I really didn’t want to repack all the pieces into the box. I went to the Wayfair Help area and although I had to take a lot of pictures, I was able to get a new piece mailed to me. Communication kept me informed of the shipment. The desk itself took a bit of time to put together for me and if time is a constraint, I would hire someone else to do it. The extra phone plugs are handy and the lights can be white or blue, which really make it nice so don’t buy a lamp to go along with the desk. There are a couple of things to be aware of: 1) Although easy to do, there are many pieces to assemble, so count on maybe 2-3 hours of time to fully assemble the desk, hutch and all of the drawers. 2) Given the type of coated particle board construction that is used, there were some small blemishes on corners/ends of a few of the pieces. This desk is an excellent value at this price point. Pressed wood, but looks realistic enough. It’s quite solid and well made. It does take quite a bit of time to put together but I wouldn’t say it was hard. The directions had a lot of detail and were simple to follow. I put it together mostly alone over two days (desk one day, hutch the next). My only complaint is the picture on Wayfair is misleading in color. It is not a true grey as I had hoped. The first desk took us about 5 hours, and even knowing exactly what we were doing, the second still took about 4 hours. I would absolutely recommend having two people, plenty of space, and a whole lot of patience. That being said, the instruction manual was surprisingly clear and helpful. There are simply a LOT of pieces and steps involved. Once assembled, though Worth it. They look like much more expensive pieces of furniture and completely transformed our homeschool room. I especially love all of the drawers, cabinets, shelving, and built-in desktop outlets. If you’re willing to survive the assembly process, I highly recommend them. The drawers open smoothly but they do make slight sound as it sort of scrapes along the metal. The drawers don’t have stoppers so COULD fall on toes BUT they’re so deep that I can’t imagine that happening. We do plan to remedy that in some way because it for our 7yo son, but not necessary for older kids or adults. chair opening is very large which makes it nice for widercrossed-legged chairs. The packaging wasn’t the best — it had a tear, and I could see the wood through it, which was a bit frustrating. One piece came slightly damaged, but nothing major. It was actually pretty easy to put together and took me around 3 hours. It felt a bit wobbly at first, but make sure to do step 46 — that makes all the difference! Now it’s super sturdy.
