Our rain barrels are uniquely designed with plastic fittings that match the rate of expansion and contraction of barrel plastic from season to season to avoid leakage. These rain barrels are repurposed from pre-used overseas food barrels. There may be slight scratching or scuffs due to previous overseas transportation. Since our rain barrels are made of high-density polyethylene plastic they can be left outdoors even in the winter months so there is no need to modify your downspouts in the spring and fall. The exact shape of the barrels may vary due to availability but the color and size remain true. Because these barrels were originally used to transport food, there may be residual food product odor. The residual odor will dissipate after a few full barrel-filling cycles. Well it is really nicely made except the top is not going to last. I can tell people will throw things in it and it will get dented. Unfortunately when I asked about a replacement in the future there was no really any option for that. Through Wayfair. I was told no. That was a disappointment. Other than that, the only thing that I was a bit disappointed with was I was not made aware that this wine barrel actually had wine in it beforehand because it really had a strong smell of wine and I couldn't get rid of it. So my entire kitchen smells of wine and I hope that's temporary. I do like the look but the smell is extremely strong.
