I absolutely love this solid real wood island! You can't beat the price. Well it is real wood, it is a lighter wood. I did have a few small pieces with some splintering defects because of this, but nothing a little wood glue can't fix. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with assembly like what other reviewers noted. I found assembly to be rather easy. The pieces were all numbered, but a lot of the numbers had fallen off in the box or elsewhere. This wasn't a big deal as the instructions have good pictures and I was able to figure out which pieces correlated with which numbers. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. I recently moved into a rental that has an awkward layout for cooking and this solves the problem beautifully. The leaf is just perfect, allowing more space for food prep but with the option to stow it away to keep the walkway open. From the time I opened the box, including organizing and verifying all the parts, it took 3.5 hours to assemble, plus another 20-30 min for final adjustments, removing stickers, and disposing all the packaging. One of the hardware packets was mislabeled. The instructions were mostly clear with a couple confusing spots. At the end one of the drawers wouldn't slide in all the way so I had to adjust the sliders to a different hole than instructed. I didn't need (or like) the bulky spice rack so I filled the holes with nail hole filler. As other reviewers have commented, it is definitely a tip hazard with the leaf open when the cabinets are empty, but once I put heavier stuff inside the whole thing stabilized. I agree the back side (leaf side) of the unit would look nicer with a more finished appearance but it doesn't bother me since it faces away from the entrance. Luckily the delivery person delivered the box right to my door where I could drag it inside - I'm a petite woman and it weighs 100 lbs, so I wouldn't have been able to get it inside otherwise. 8/10, an absolute WIN! One piece of the table has a dent in it due to shipping and handling. I put a vase on top of it to hide it. Wayfair gave a me a small % of a refund due to the dent. I paid for the professional assembly Wayfair offers, and it took him 3.5 hours to assemble. TONS of pieces, and the instruction manual is crucial! It has plenty of space, is aesthetically pleasing, and gives my kitchen the luxury upgrade I desire. It has two drawers that don’t have the lock when you extend it, so I have to be careful when opening it. I even added books where some would put spices, so I am loving the dual purpose. Just what I was looking for in a real solid wood kitchen island on a budget! It fits our space & is a basic style for a good price. It is a soft wood (fir) so you do have to be gentle with it & it did come with some shipping/packaging character marks, but our style is rustic/vintage so it works just fine. I actually modified it by cutting off the bottom 2” on each leg & adding rollers so it is easily moveable by just one person.
