Decent piece, but arrived with several scratches and dings. It's almost impossible to get through to customer service lately, and when you do, they are having "technical issues" so you need to call back later. Not worth the hassle of trying to return. Regardless, the first few steps are a big tricky to get through because the directions are less than clear. My advice is to put each sections together and attach, versus trying to build from the bottom up. It spins nicely, even on carpet and with a bit of weight from books and decorations. The parts were surprisingly dusty, and it was in between layers within the box so it was definitely there before it was packaged. Not the end of the world, but it was a lot of pieces to wipe down as I assembled. It also seems like it wouldn't have cut into profits too much to put the screws in two separate bags so I didn't have to dump them all out to find the 10 small ones for the rotating base hardware. Also, the instructions were terrifying until I realized it was just the same thing over and over - then they felt redundant. The Bookcase captures the eyes where set. Its larger dimension and style is readily noticeable and is appropriate for its purpose. Its compressed wood materials are of good quality and are sturdy and a bit heavy when assembled. One downside of the item though is that, the base plate assembly mechanism is not working properly. The shelf is very beautiful but the assembly took some time. If the pieces were better organized that would have saved some time. In the middle of the night this shelf popped so loud and continued every couple of hours. My guess is the bamboo is expanding and contracting.
