Bought this several months ago. Although I sent the link with specs and installation instructions to the builder's subcontractor, he installed the grill on wood supports which is combustible. Of course, the builder blamed us for not buying via his subcontractor (which would have been much more expensive). After the subcontractor made a steel box with cement board to address the combustion issue, we discover he didn't allow room to pull the grease pans out. Really great grill set up. I added the side burner pizza oven, griddle, charcoal pan, cover separately. The grill itself puts out great heat, the side burner gives a nice sear. The drawers and side cabinet are nice, just wish the drawers opened a little more to fit the pizza oven in or the side cabinet shelves were positioned a little lower to fit the pizza oven on the top shelf. I have to store it separately because of that. If it rains, water does get into the drawers, so I definitely recommend a cover. The pizza oven for the side burner is pretty small, it does not fit a 12 inch pizza peel. The vent cover arrived quickly and in good condition. I like the modern, clean style and the screws are hidden. The installation instructions are clear and remind you multiple times to measure the opening and purchase the cover appropriate for the space. There is no wheel or mechanism to open and close the baffles. You use your fingers or a screwdriver which could be a pain if you are using it in a ceiling or other difficult to access area. Let’s start with the basics. Kandu is a charcoal oven that is used for vertical cooking. Vertical cooking? Yes. Traditional barbecues, including the Kamado types, work through a principle we call ‘horizontal cooking’. Food is put on a grate and put over a fire. This means largely only one side of your food is being exposed to the heat at a time, which means longer cooking times and loss of moisture, nutrients, and taste. With Kandu, the heat (which can reach temperatures up to 750°F) will quickly sear your food from all sides and even from the inside out. Food is ready in no time. This means more succulent meat, crispy veggies, and juicy fish - while maintaining the delicious flavor, juiciness, and nutrients. Kandu uses 3 to 4 pounds of charcoal (depending on which type) for consistent temperatures for 3 to 4 hours.
