I used this as picture frame moulding in a bedroom makeover. It was easy to paint. I used a miter saw to cut it and did have some edges that frayed a bit. Sanding helped. What a great product! Lightweight and easy to cut with a fine blade in a miter saw. No chipping of finish when cutting. Installed a 13 x 13 room in under 3 hours with two people. Used the standard adhesive (blue tube) to secure it to a painted ceiling. Paint was sanded prior to installation.
