I am incredibly impressed with this pair of faux variegated Dracaena plants. I’ve bought plenty of artificial greenery in the past, but I’ve never really encountered a faux plant quite like this one. A lot of times you buy these things and they look or feel super crappy, but these are a totally different story. The leaves have this unique, smooth, rubbery texture that gives them some real substance and weight. They look and feel remarkably real. They were so easy to get ready, too. They come securely glued right into their little seedling pots with a faux dirt finish, so there's zero assembly. You literally just take them out of the box and bend the leaves down to shape them however you want. Right now, I haven’t even had the time to properly decorate or place them anywhere—they're just kind of sitting on my living room floor in their seedling pots looking a little weird for the moment! But because they have sun protection and mechanically grafted leaves, I absolutely cannot wait to move them out to the backyard. Yucca rostrata, known commonly as Adam's Yucca, Beaked Blue Yucca, Beaked Yucca, Big Bend Yucca, Nordstrom's Yucca, Silver Yucca is a trunk-forming yucca that is native to the Big Bend region of West Texas, Chihuahua and Coahuila, where it grows in desert conditions, where sandy soil and distinct daytime and nighttime temperatures reign. This tree-like yucca is an extremely ornamental, slow-growing evergreen, with a perfectly symmetrical pom-pom-like form. Its form includes hundreds of 2 foot long leaves. The leaves have sharp points and are an attractive pale blue-green color. The rosette of leaves sits at the top of the trunk. The trunk is covered with the remains of old leaves which are soft fibers. Beautiful yellow-orange stalks appear at the top of the plant in late spring. The stalks have clusters of white flowers. This tree-like plant has leaves that are soft, unlike other varieties of yucca, making this a less dangerous plant. One of the hardiest trunk-forming yuccas, it tolerates cold up to zone 5. While full sun is ideal, it tolerates part shade so long as it gets at least three hours of sun. The common name 'Big Bend Yucca' arises from this species being found in its natural habitat of the Big Bend are of the Rio Grand River. Big bend yucca needs to grow in full sun for best results. Place it in a well-lit spot in your backyard. As a winter hardy plant, its suited to USDA Zones 5 through 11. While this yucca tolerates heat with no issues, it will need protection in times with consistent temperatures below -10F (-23C).
