This was pretty easy to assemble, I completed the the assembly in just about 20 minutes. The instructions were straightforward and simple to understand. All tools needed came with the lectern, however I do recommend using your own Philips screwdriver to put it together a bit quicker. The top part of the lectern had a nice smooth black wood finish look to it. The top part of the lectern that can hold paper is sturdy, definitely strong enough to hold a laptop if needed. The bottom tray is not as sturdy as the top shelf but is still strong enough to hold a cell phone or a few pens.
