This product is designed with a lift rod to switch between the faucet and hand shower. Unfortunately the engineers can not figure it out, why we have to use a pair of pliers to lift the rod. we use the bathtub very seldom and try to not use the hand shower because the rod is not movable without a tool and the lift rod's knob can sheer off after awhile. When my original Moen hand held shower handle broke after ten years (and being dropped) I was preparing to install a whole new shower unit into my standing shower.
